There Are Now Items in Destiny 2 That Support ‘Black Lives Matter’

Now you are able to show your support for the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement in Destiny 2. Bungie set up a new way for people playing Destiny 2 to show their support for Black Lives Matter. Bungie has started taking pre-orders for what it calls an enamel pin that reads, ‘be heard.’ The new item features a black fist clenching a lightning bolt. The cost for the item is $15, and all proceeds go toward the Equal Justice Initiative.

You won’t be able to get the pin until some time later this year, but if you do purchase it now, you will get a voucher for an in-game emblem that has the same design. As we all know, emblems are one of the most important components of a Destiny 2 character. Emblems show up next to a player’s names in multiplayer modes and in their profiles.

“Bungie explained last week, ‘We know that Guardians in Destiny fight for humanity and hope. And while the real challenges that Black people face are not as easily vanquished as the enemies in our game, we look forward to seeing Guardians come together in this fight as well. As we said before, we are committed to standing up for our Black community; including our developers, fans, and neighbors. Together, we intend to replace injustice with equality wherever we see it.”

In doing this, Bungie is proactive in showing their support for the growing movement. A lot of other publishers and video game developers only had generic statements to offer in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Bungie is not alone in this proactive nature, as Activision has added a loading screen to Call of Duty that includes Black Lives Matter content. Humble Bundle and Itch.io raised a ton of cash for Civil Rights charities by selling bundles of games.
