Published on June 10, 2020

Destiny 2 will soon be available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Bungie has revealed a little more details on what the transition will look like when Destiny 2 is released this holiday season.

Bungie has promised that the new version of Destiny 2 will have 4K resolution support at 60 FPS on both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. This is a significant jump for Destiny 2 from the 1080P at 30 FPS of the game on currently available consoles.

Bungie has also ensured that the cross-generation versions of Destiny 2 will still be fully compatible with one another. So that means a PS4 owner will be able to play Destiny 2 with friends that use a PlayStation 5, and Xbox One owners will be able to cross-play Destiny 2 with the Xbox Series X owner. Bungie also hinted that they were working on cross-platform play for Destiny 2, which could be available as early as next year. The cross-platform play would finally make it possible for PlayStation and Xbox players to play Destiny 2 together.

Bungie also said that Destiny 2 owners on Xbox One and PS4 would get a free upgrade to the Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 of the game.
