Podio is surprisingly useful in its free version. It allows you to experiment with workspace functionalities and task management of Podio and even offers access to the app market of Podio. It is only designed for little teams and gives you little control over your Podio user accounts.

Primary podio subscriptions cost $7.20 per month annually, or $9 monthly per month. With this membership level you will be able to freely share documents with external users on your podio system.

Then, the Podio Plus membership, depending on your billing cycle, costs $11.20, or $14 per month. Additional functionalities such as fully automated workflows are achieved through the Podio Plus. You can design projects with an automated workflow in which successive tasks start once the necessary task is complete.

Podio premium is also available. It supports visual reporting, a helpful feature in sharing project results with your team or customers. It costs $24.

Features

There are “workspaces” are at the center of Podio. These are the fields where the workflow of each project can be managed. Managers can set tasks, set deadlines and assign individual employees responsibilities in a project workspace. To make sure that only certain users can create new tasks or adjust time periods Podio provides advanced management functionality.

Podio workspaces are very customizable. You can add different fields of any data type in tasks like relevant files or text descriptions, statistics. To see how a project progresses immediately at a glance, widgets can be incorporated into work spaces.

You will also be pleased to learn that podio workspaces support formula calculations. You can use formula calculation to predict project costs and duration as well as to generate new statistics and metrics for the analysis of performance.

Teamwork Tools

Podio’s integrated chat system is one of its best features. Many other tools for project management lack similar features so you can see their inclusion here. Podio users can directly send messages to each other or build group chats from any Podio screen.

Relevant task files can be circulated or downloaded in collective workspaces by coworkers using the chat program. But Podio also allows every user to post messages and files on an activity stream. Other team members can share their own answers. You can track your work as well.

Podio App Market

Podio apps really are only templates for contacts, projects and meetings of different kinds. You can add a large number of apps to your workspace by clicking a button. Keeping the same application templates is a simple way to ensure consistency across your organization project management.

Podio provides a choice of plugins to help you integrate software from third parties into the Podio system, called “extensions.” You can sync your Podio account with a variety of cloud apps like MailChimp, Google and SalesForce by using tools like PieSync, which you will find in Podio’s extensions. Some Podio extensions are paid and some of them are free of charge.

Interface

The dashboard for Podio is your first login screen. You will find your activity stream on the left side of the dashboard by default, while the latest articles, links and apps are shown on the right. It takes a few seconds for you to pick a task calendar or update live from a project workspace and you can adjust the dashboard according to your needs, too.

The interface of the Podio isn’t the most exciting. The design of this product certainly comes with clear icons, clean layouts and text. When you first install the podio program, a set of pop-up notifications will greet you describing how it functions. Most of the suggestions were connected to video clips with more detailed instructions.

You will find a number of shortcuts to places like your chat, accounts, connections and notifications and in the top of the screen every time on the Podio interface. You can quickly hop between the main areas of the software making it simple to navigate.

You can use Podio iOS and Android apps or a browser-based desktop to access your Podio workplaces. The mobile Podio version is well-designed and almost all have the same feature as the desktop version.

Support

Podio system access support can hardly be easier. At the top right of all podium pages, a number of guides and videos are opened if you click the question mark button. You should send a request to the Podio Support Team if you cannot find a solution to your question at the Podio Help Center. On-call support is also available where you get technical assistance.

Competitors

This is less advanced than Microsoft Project, because time monitoring and reporting functions do not exist, but it is easy to use. Podio is simultaneously better than Monday.com with a steeper learning curve.

Final Verdict

This may not be the most advanced platform on the market, but you could do much worse than Podio if you are looking for a project management solution that will enable your team to collaborate better. The chat and stream of activity functions are functional to enable managers and users to stay connected while coordinating complex projects.
