OnePlus rolls out OxygenOS 5.0 for OnePlus 5, sans bugs

Published on January 7, 2018

To recall, OnePlus began the official rollout of the latest Android Oreo operating system earlier last week. Titled, ‘Oxygen OS 5.0,’ due to some defect in the software, the company halted the roll-out. According to a report published by India Today, soon after users updated their smartphone with the update, they began complaining about the existence of a bug. It is not clear what exactly the problem was, but it was known that the company was working on eradicating it. The company, after a week of working on the update, has finally begun rolling it out again.

A week earlier, the Chinese technology giant acknowledged the existence of bugs in their latest Oxygen 5.0 release. “Because of a bug on Oxygen 5.0, we have canceled its global release. And we’re preparing for Oxygen 5.0.1, the partial release will go live soon,” the company said in a statement. After a week’s waiting, the software update has now finally been made available for OnePlus 5 users. The company is releasing the update in a phased manner.

In other words, if you haven’t received the update as yet then don’t worry. You will release it soon because the company is updating the smartphones in batches. “The build will be continuing to release here shortly. Remember this is a staged rollout, so it will take some time to get out to everyone,” the company reassured.

The latest OnePlus OS 5.0.1. comes equipped with the same changes as the Oxygen 5.0, sans the bug fixes. “The build is now 5.0.1 and most of the changelog is the same, but we’ve added a few things to this new version,” the company said in a statement.

There are two primary changes in Oxygen OS 5.0.1, i.e. the fix for third-party camera applications as well as the fix for network issues impacting European operators. Individuals are advised to note that the latest update has still not been made compatible with an unlocked bootloader.
