Lucid Explains Its Version Of Semi-Autonomous Driving

After much planning, the Lucid Air is finally hitting the production lines. So, now that EV car maker has provided further details of its ‘DreamDrive’ platform. DreamDrive will rely on 4 surround cameras, 14 conventional cameras, 5 radar devices and several ultrasonic sensors. The higher end trims like the Air Dream Edition or Grand Touring will get DreamDrive Pro, which includes the addition of LiDAR and other advanced features.

All Air models will include Highway Assist, the company’s version of adaptive cruise control with lane centering. Also included is a Traffic Jam Assist and Auto Park systems. Like other autonomous driving systems, DreamDrive will use a combination of infrared driver cameras and hands-off detection mechanisms to make sure the driver is always paying attention. Failure to comply with this system will cause the car to stop and turn on its hazard lights and unlock the doors.

DreamDrive Pro tier also includes a 21-speaker directional alert system and Highway Pilot.This is not the most advanced autonomous driving technology. DreaDrive is far less advanced than Tesla’s Full Self-Driving and it even takes a back seat to GM’s Ultra Cruise.
