Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has been teasing it’s Redmi 5, and Redmi 5 Plus since so long and the phone was titled as the best budget phone. The company unveiled these two smartphones in China and said the smartphones would be available in other markets soon. The company continued its series of Redmi and added two new handsets in it, but this time the company took the trend of the bezel-less display under budget phones. The company added an edge-to-edge display with 18:9 ratio in its budget segment.

As the name suggests, Redmi 5 is smaller variant then the Redmi 5 Plus, with its display screen size and other specifications. With 18:9 display the devices also features a metallic back body along with a fingerprint sensor placed just below the camera lens and flash LED.  Now let’s move deep inside the features and specifications of these two budget phones.

Redmi 5 runs on a processor of 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 450 SoC while the bigger one runs on 2.0GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC. Both the devices are in-built with Adreno 506 GPU. When it comes to RAM, there are two options available for each phone. The Redmi 5 is available in 2GB or 3GB of RAM while the Redmi 5 Plus is available in 3GB or 4GB of RAM.

Same is with the storage too; the lower one is available with 16GB or 32GB of internal storage while Redmi 5 Plus is being offered with 32GB or 64GB by the company. Redmi 5 carries a screen of 5.7-inch HD+ (720×1440) display while Redmi 5 Plus sport a more significant 5.99-inch Full HD+ (1080×2160) display.

It seems like the company is stuck with the same optics for all the smartphones. Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus both are holding the same optics. Both will have a rear shooter of 12-megapixel with 1.25-micron pixels and LED Flash and 5-megapixel of front facing the camera for which company didn’t detail that much except saying thanks to the Beautify 3.0 and Soft-Toned selfie light.

Both the handsets will come along with MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1. When it comes to the battery, the company built these smartphones with a good battery backup. The smaller one houses a battery pack of 3300mAh while the bigger one carries a more extensive battery backup with a 4000mAh battery.
