Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9 Details Leaked Ahead of Microsoft’s October 12 Announcement

The Surface Laptop 5 appears to have the same display resolutions as its predecessors, according to the leaked image below. In addition, the Surface Laptop 5 is expected to have the same bezel thickness as the Surface Laptop 4, based on the image. It is unknown whether the Surface Laptop 5 will use 120 Hz screens, as well. The Surface Pro 9 line, which we discussed last month, is expected to be available in Black, Forest, Graphite, Platinum, and Sapphire colorways.

The Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9 have been leaked in great detail by Aggiornamenti Lumia. According to the leak, the pair will be released on October 12 at a hardware event and will comprise four versions, including the Surface Pro 9 5G. For reference, the Surface Pro 9 5G is speculated to use the Microsoft SQ3, a customized Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3.

The Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9 with Intel CPUs are referenced only in Aggiornamenti Lumia’s leak. Hence, Microsoft appears to have abandoned plans to offer AMD Ryzen APUs with the Surface Laptop series. The Surface Laptop 5 will come with the Core i5-1235U and Core i7-1255U, two Alder Lake-U series CPUs with 15 W TDPs, 10 cores, 12 threads, and 12 MB of L3 cache.

According to some reports, the Surface Laptop 3 13.5, Surface Laptop 5 15, and Surface Pro 9 will all feature identical processors and 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM in consumer models. If Microsoft’s current strategy holds true for its next generation of machines, business versions of the Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9 will also come with 32 GB of RAM.
