Samsung Introduce New Premier 7 and Premier 9 Projectors to Its Lineup

Samsung has expanded its ultra short throw (UST) projector lineup with the introduction of the Premiere 7 and Premiere 9 models.

The Premiere 9 is equipped with advanced triple-laser and HDR10+ technology. After giving a sneak peek at CES 2024 earlier this year, Samsung has officially launched the Premiere 7 and Premiere 9 UST 4K projectors, promising significant improvements in picture quality over the previous LSP9T and LSP7T models, particularly in terms of brightness and color accuracy. Samsung stated that the primary objective with these new products was to deliver a cinematic experience for consumers.

The smart TV features on both projectors are powered by Samsung’s Tizen OS, providing access to streaming services like Samsung TV Plus, Netflix, and YouTube. Additionally, the newly integrated Samsung Gaming Hub offers more than 3,000 titles from Xbox and other platforms, without the need for a console. Both models feature 4K AI upscaling and Vision Booster technology, which automatically adjusts color and contrast to suit different lighting conditions.

The Premiere 7 is positioned as a strong mid-range option in the UST projector category, boasting 2,500 ISO lumens of brightness and 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 HDR standard. This should result in accurate colors and an expanded dynamic range, although many projectors struggle to meet the brightness levels required for HDR specifications.

In terms of HDR, the Premiere 7 supports HDR10, whereas other models like the Formovie Theater can handle Dolby Vision content. The sound system on the Premiere 7 includes Dolby Atmos technology and 30W 2.2-channel speakers.

On the other hand, the Premiere 9 is a step below the Premiere 8K UST projector, also unveiled at CES. Its triple-laser engine increases brightness to 3,450 ISO lumens, slightly less than the 4,000 lumens of the Premiere 8K but higher than most 4K UST projectors, such as Epson’s EpiqVision Ultra LS800W 4K 3LCD projector, which also offers 4,000 ISO lumens.

The Premiere 9 also includes Samsung’s alternative to Dolby Vision, HDR10+. With its enhanced brightness and 154 percent DCI-P3 color accuracy, the picture quality should be impressive. Additionally, it comes with a 40W Dolby Atmos sound system in a 2.2.2 channel up-firing configuration.

Samsung’s projectors tend to be more expensive than competitors, and the new models are no exception. The Premiere 7 is priced at $2,999, while the Premiere 9 is available for $5,999. Both models are currently available for purchase on Samsung’s website and at select retailers.
