Chinese technology giant OnePlus is expected to reveal its next-generation OnePlus 6 smartphone before the end of June. At the recently-concluded Consumer Electronics Show, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said that the handset will be launched towards the end of the second quarter, 2018. The second quarter typically lasts from April to June. It seems like the company will be following its traditional pattern of launch and unveiling the next-generation flagship offering at the same time as they did with OnePlus 5 last year.

According to a report published by Trusted Reviews, it is not entirely clear that the smartphone will be called OnePlus 6 or not, however, it has been confirmed that the device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 system-on-chip. “Of course, there’s no choice,” says Lau at the CES, 2018.

The next-generation model is expected to be carrying all premium features. The Chinese technology giant is also working on striking a deal with U.S. carriers so that they can go mainstream in the market as well. “If the right opportunity and right timing come along, we’ll be very happy to experiment,” Lau added.

“OnePlus phones have risen from invite-only to sales in the millions, but any carrier accord would require the company to significantly boost production,” notes Trusted Reviews. It is still uncertain exactly how this is going to influence OnePlus’ stature in the market.

It, however, goes without saying that OnePlus has a strong hold over the smartphone market at the moment. One of the main reasons why the handset is so popular among masses is because it comes at a cheaper price and packs the same kind of features that come in a premium-level device. At the same time, there are other competitors who are trying to take away OnePlus’ title of the ‘flagship killer’ away from them.
