While the world is still in the awe of the OnePlus 5T line-up, the company is already gearing up to renew it with yet another record-smasher smartphone. The Chinese technology giant is expected to reveal its next-generation, 2018 flagship device sometime in June 2018, reports Slash Gear.

In an interview on Wednesday, 10th January, OnePlus Chief Executive Peter Lau went on to speak about the device. Along with speaking about the upcoming smartphone, Lau also revealed that the company was in talks with US carriers this year and would strike a deal soon.  “If the right opportunity and right timing come along,” he said, “we’ll be very happy to experiment.”

In other words, the company has a hoard of problems to overcome this year, given that they are planning on doing something that they haven’t before. OnePlus is expected to follow the footsteps of its arch-rival Huawei. Huawei is rumored to announce a partnership with AT&T at CES and consequently introduce its Mate 10 Pro smartphone for sale in the US market.

Meanwhile, the speculated OnePlus 6 smartphone still hasn’t received its official name as yet but is expected to arrive in the second quarter of 2018. In other words, the firm is following its traditional pattern of launching smartphones. The one detail that Lau confirmed about the upcoming smartphone is its processor, i.e. the OnePlus 6 is going to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 system-on-chip.

This particular revelation doesn’t come across as a surprise because OnePlus usually follows Samsung when it comes to offering chipsets. Since even Samsung is expected to use the latest chipset in Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus smartphones, it would make sense for OnePlus to do the same. “The expectation is that the OnePlus 6 will overlap considerably with what the Galaxy S9 can do,” notes Wired.
