Target shooting at the range or just plinking cans in the woods is fun. But you can do so much more with your ammo using some creativity. And with ammo being so expensive you would be wise to “invest it” more carefully. Here I show how to make a fun training game out of shooting your 10/22s in preparation for running the same course of fire with AR-15s or other tactical carbines. The 10/22 is ideal for this due to its capability in using 25 rd magazines and it’s plenty of fun in its own right. The course of fire is best shot in an open area out to 50 yds with a safe backdrop. You can set a 1:00 to 1:20 time limit using a countdown timer and incorporate lots of running to raise the heartbeat and create some shooting duress. It’s more challenging than most people think. Stages are set at the 50, 25, 15, and 7 yd points marked off with a laser rangefinder. Five rounds kneeling and five rounds standing are shot at each stag (prone can also be integrated). Modifications of course happen on the fly according to gun requirements and the desired result (reducing each stage to total of six rounds saves some $ with .223 shooting). Here some of my friends and I run our course for the first time. Practice and some well-chosen mods (future vids) for your 10/22 might tighten groups and reduce the time but it was still a fun time and great training. Time and money always seem to be short so when you can make it out, shoot for fun but shoot to train.//////////Note: Sorry for the obnoxious “bro” references but my friends do not have YouTube names and I was at a loss what to call them.
