Nokia 9 to pack 5.5-inch OLED display, Android 8.0 Oreo

Published on December 20, 2017

Nokia surprised the technology market in a right way by returning with its new set of smartphones this year. The Finnish technology giant began 2017 with a bang, by reviving its classic Nokia handset. Following which, they targeted the premium, mid and low-level smartphone market with their products. It doesn’t seem like the company is done with smartphone launches as of now. If rumors and speculations are believed to be accurate, then Nokia is apparently working towards the launch of its Nokia 9 smartphone.

According to a report by The Verge, which is citing information discovered in the latest FCC filing, Nokia 9 will probably sport a 5.5-inch OLED display. The smartphone, it appears, will be the newest handset revived under the Nokia brand line-up.

Nokia’s brand line-up already consists of the mid-range Nokia 6 smartphone along with the high-end Nokia 8 device. LG will reportedly manufacture Nokia 9’s display. On the contrary, Nokia’s 8 made use of an IPS LCD. The smartphone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip and house a 3,250mAh battery.

Apart from this, the Nokia 9 is speculated to feature a dual rear camera setup with a 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel sensor along with a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper. There aren’t too many details about the smartphone’s possible RAM size available to anyone as of yet. It is, however, known that the Nokia 9 will come with a 128GB internal storage.

The FCC filing further went on to suggest that the Nokia 9 smartphone will run on Android 8.0 Oreo directly out of the box. A 3D render of the speculated handset had surfaced online in October this year, which showcased a bezel-less, curved display coupled with a black-colored rear panel. No information of the price or availability is made public as yet.
