Microsoft earlier in October last year announced that they were planning on stopping manufacturing of Kinect Adapters. For those who aren’t aware, Kinect Adapters are camera sensors produced by the Redmond giant that has been powering their gaming consoles for ages.

According to a report published by The Verge, it appears that the firm has finally decided to live up to their announcement. In other words, the newer versions of Xbox One S and One X gaming consoles won’t come featuring their exclusive adapters. This could mean that the gamers might have to purchase adapters separately if they find the need for it.

The Redmond giant had originally made an offer to all of Xbox One S owners to provide a dongle for free. Their intention was to allow the owners to continue their use of Kinect Adapters for newer versions as well. Following which, Microsoft began offering Kinect Adapters for $39.99. However, soon the promotion ended.

“After careful consideration, we decided to stop manufacturing the Xbox Kinect Adapter to focus attention on launching new, higher fan-requested gaming accessories across Xbox One and Windows 10,” a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed with The Polygon publication.

Sadly enough, the Microsoft Kinect Adapter is already out of stock. Be it major retailers or online platforms, one can’t really find these products anywhere. Users are in hope that they might discover Kinect Adapter in the second-hand markets. The adapter usually comes at a price between $150 and $300.

This could mean that the Kinect Adapter is incredibly expensive in nature for those who wish to pick it up for the given price. Nonetheless, Microsoft has provided official confirmation to its followers that they have discontinued the Kinect Adapter. We don’t know exactly where the gaming era is headed, with more and more number of accessories being eliminated by their manufacturers.
