We took the Mag Tactical Systems AIR 15 Recon rifle out to the range today, and no that is not a typo. This rifle is the lightest non-polymer AR-15 on the market coming at at 4.8lbs unloaded.
The rifle’s weight comes not only from lightweight components but from the proprietary magnesium alloy upper and lower receivers. This material provides for a 35% weight reduction over standard aluminum receiver sets while retaining a strength and rigidity not seen in polymer receivers.
