LG SK10Y High Res Audio Sound Bar

Published on September 7, 2018

As televisions in the early decade have been getting cheaper, it is obvious that they are cutting costs somewhere. While picture quality and looks of the TVs are in a continuous cycle of innovation, you can say that the innovation is happening at the cost of audio experience. But with LG SK10Y, you won’t need to compensate anymore.

Design

Upon unboxing, the SK10Y comes equipped with a sound bar and a wireless subwoofer. The bar is a stylish 57.7 inches in width and 2.5 inches in height, making it just the right size to go with any 65” tv. The subwoofer boasts a minimalistic rectangular design covered with black cloth and is somewhat bulky weighing in at 16.8 pounds with 8.7 x15.4 x 12.3 dimensions.

Features & Functionality

The LG SK10Y gives its customers a 5.1.2 channel sound experience, with the help from its soundbar that gives the sound a “heightened effect”. This effect gives a much better movie experience especially with Blu-Ray as well as some Netflix shows. The bar has a wealth of connection options, with two HDMI 2.0 ports with 4k HDR, an Ethernet port as well as a 3.5mm jack to support other third-party speakers.

No wires, No Worries

With both the subwoofer and the bar both having Bluetooth 4.0, the lack of wires going below the carpets, floorboards or couches to connect the speakers is a very welcome addition. However, to get the proper 7.1.2 surround sound, you will need the rest of the ensemble.

Verdict

While the LG SK10Y is not without its faults such as pairing issues and lackluster musical experience, it is great for movies or games, but it isn’t the best choice for music. In conclusion, those of you looking for a relatively cheap home speaker The LG SK10Y is the way to go.
