It might not be so obvious at first glance, but a coconut is technically a fruit, a general nut and a seed.
The coconut belongs to a group of fruits called drupes. Drupes have a fleshy part covering a hard shell containing the seed. Other drupes include peaches, cherries and almonds — the most elusive one of them all (you guessed it) being the coconut.
