Honor rolls out Face Unlock update to View 10 smartphone

Huawei-backed Honor on Thursday, 18th January made an announcement, making the roll-out of a new software update for its View 10 smartphone, official. The software update is currently being rolled out in the form of an Over-The-Air (OTA) update and goes on to include the much-talked-about Face Unlock feature, that practically appears on most flagship handsets these days.

Honor, during the time of the launch, launched the Face Unlock feature, specifically aimed towards checking mobile notifications. However, the firm is now expanding the support for numerous other functionalities. The roll-out started sometime on January 17 and is expected to be integrated with all the View 10 units by January 24, i.e. next week.

Like mentioned previously, the Face Unlock feature through View 10 smartphone will support many functionalities, including providing access to lock screen notifications, turn off the display when the user is not looking and other such details. Moreover, the Face Unlock feature will also help users to identify the position between them and the device to adjust display orientation of the device. The update will work even when the user’s eyes are closed.

There are many other features that will come loaded in the OTA update, including the AI motion detection placed both, at the rear and front panels of the handset, Super-Resolution Imaging that will help enhance the device’s resolution, AI Zoom as well as Smart Tips. The Smart Tips functionality includes eye-comforting settings, knuckle gestures, wide aperture pictures as well as QR code scanning.

On the specifications front, the Honor View 10 smartphone features a 5.99-inch Full HD Plus display with 1,080 x 2,160 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The smartphone runs on the latest Android 8.0 OS based on EMUI 8.0 and is powered by Huawei’s Hi-Silicon Kirin 970 SoC, further backed with a 6GB of RAM and 128GB of ROM. “In the camera department, the Honor View 10 comes with a 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel dual rear camera setup. It also bears a 13-megapixel front sensor. There is a 3750mAh battery under the hood,” notes Gadgets 360.
