Tesla’s ‘battery day’ presentation is almost upon us. It’s set to happen tomorrow after being rescheduled from an earlier April date because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. It is expected that the company has developed at least one new type of battery cell technology that will help it stay ahead in the quickly-growing EV market.

Elon Musk had this to say, though: ‘What we announce will not reach serious high-volume production until 2022.’ This will will have implications for its upcoming Semi, Cybertruck and Roadster. Musk also said that Tesla plans to drastically increase battery cell purchases from its partners LG and Panasonic, but he indicated that the company will need to take action to avoid shortages in the near future. This is a hint toward Tesla getting into cell manufacturing. There is a lot of speculation, but we’ll find out exactly what Tesla has in store when the presentation happens tomorrow, during the Annual Meeting of Stockholders and Battery Day event. The event is scheduled to start at 4:30PM EST.
