Ultimately, the McLaren 570S came out on top as our Performance Car of the Year winner, because we loved the unique experience we had when driving it. In this case, performance came before comfort; it’s loud, has scissor doors, and a style you don’t see everyday. The 570S has it all: responsive handling, heaps of power, and a super car that’s packed with intimidation. With the McLaren 570S, you know you’re in a race car that’s made with an an acute civil conscious to be contained as a legal road car.

Our runners up were the Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport and Audi R8 V10 Plus. The Corvette Grand Sport hits the performance sweet spot, with 465 horsepower, allows you to take it on a track, or simply cruise home in it. The Audi R8 V10 Plus is a car that pairs a 610 horsepower engine with leading interior in-car tech and performances like the super car of our dreams.

The 2017 Digital Trends Car Awards is the culmination of a full year of testing. We’ve driven hundreds of cars over the year and brought together the best of the best for side-by-side comparison. In the end the overall winner will take home the Digital Trends Car of the Year award.
