CYGNSS – Valery Zavorotny

Valery Zavorotny, physicist, NOAA Earth System Research Laboratory, on his role in the Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System (CYGNSS) mission.
CYGNSS is a new NASA mission that will use eight micro-satellites to make accurate measurements of ocean surface winds in and near the eye of the storm throughout the lifecycle of tropical cyclones, typhoons & hurricanes.
The mission will launch late 2016 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida, on a Pegasus XL rocket.
The University of Michigan and Southwest Research Institute are developing CYGNSS.
