I guarantee you have never seen anything like this before. Surprisingly, mercury works REMARKABLY well as a cooking surface.
We use 5lbs. of mercury to cook an egg with. This shows the very efficient thermal conductivity mercury has. This is extremely hazardous and was done in a fume hood and a respirator was also used. I can’t stress enough that you should not do this yourself.
