China’s Xiaomi plans to expand its Indian store network
China-based smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has long built itself a reputation of catering to and dominating over the Asian market through the help of its budget-category smartphones. It goes without saying that the company has a far-reaching influence over the Indian market as well. In a recent turn of events, Xiaomi seems to be planning on expanding its Indian store network in an effort to become the leader in the smartphone market and deliver tough competition to its arch-rival Samsung.
As noted by Deccan Chronicle, Xiaomi entered India roughly three years back with its latest range of a cheap but quality set of smartphones. The firm has been known to experience a great start to their business in India. The China-based manufacturer’s current value is over $100 million.
Taking advantage of this particular scenario, Xiaomi now plans on taking over its arch-rival Samsung. “If you look at 2017 and 2018 combined, the biggest change in our strategy is our focus on offline,” Manu Kumar Jain, Managing Director of Xiaomi India, told Reuters in an interview.
To recall, the company established its first Mi Home Apple store back in May 2017. The store was dedicated to taking take of store-style sales and experience of its consumers. Xiaomi now has over seventeen such stores sprawled across the Indian sub-continent – each of which is able to generate a satisfactory amount of revenue for Xiaomi.
Jain further goes on to add that the company is way ahead of the schedule that they have planned till mid-2019 “and also plans to add more preferred partner stores — multi-brand outlets that stock largely Xiaomi products,” reports Deccan Chronicle. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer plans on strengthening its network beyond just online sectors, despite it generating over seventy percent of the local revenue for the public. The firm further plans on expanding their product line-up, reaching the automobile sector as well.
