Child Vaccination Programme by the “la Caixa” Foundation and Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance (Private Banking)
Since 2008, the “la Caixa” Foundation has promoted a social responsibility scheme in Spain aimed at saving millions of children’s lives in the poorest countries in the world.
This is Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance, the first global public-private alliance to combat child mortality by fostering vaccination.
This initiative has made it possible over 15 years to vaccinate a total of 500 million children who otherwise could not have been immunised against illnesses like pneumonia or diarrhoea.
To encourage individuals and businesses to support this charity cause, the “la Caixa” Foundation and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have undertaken to multiply donations by four, so quadrupling efforts to combat child mortality.
