An audience of over 500 people gathered at Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California, to see the new phones. This is the first time the firm has publicly revealed more than one model of an iPhone at once.

In addition to showing off a new extreme sports wearable – the Watch Ultra – it also demonstrated a new extreme sports wearable.

The event focused on the next-generation iPhone 14 Pro, the Watch Ultra, and AirPod products.

The presentation was pre-recorded when Apple CEO Tim Cook appeared on stage at the Steve Jobs theatre on the company’s California campus.

Apple Watch Series 8

Apple has introduced several new features for the Series 8 Apple Watch, including car crash detection, ovulation cycle temperature monitoring, and a new low-power mode option.

There has been hesitance about period trackers due to alterations to abortion legislation in the U.S. and worries that period data could be used by law enforcement. Apple says that data on its devices will be encrypted and accessible only via a passcode or biometrics.

Apple’s chief operating officer, Jeff Williams, said, “We are committed to women’s health, and we are taking that commitment even further.”

The company said those trying to get pregnant may benefit from Apple’s new automatic ovulation notification.

Body temperature can be monitored every five seconds during sleep if the new watch is activated, and small temperature variations can signal ovulation.

A severe car crash can now be detected by the watch using sensors. The watch will automatically connect its wearer with emergency services, provide their exact location, and notify emergency contacts.

The Series 8 now has a low-power mode, a feature copied from the iPhone, that promises up to 36 hours of battery life on a full charge.

The Apple Watch Series 8 has a U.S. price of $399 and a U.K. price of £419.

The new Apple Watch is the Ultra version.

Apple has declared its competition to Garmin, Polar, and other tough watch manufacturers, which is swim-proof, dust-proof, and crack-resistant.

The new watch from Born to Run, an ultramarathoner, was featured in the presentation, emphasizing a larger face for extreme sports use.

Apple promises enough power for its customers to complete an ultra-triathlon that includes swimming, running, and biking, with all Ultra watches providing up to 36 hours of battery life on a single charge and an extended battery life of 60 hours.

The Apple Watch Ultra is priced from $799 in the U.S. £849 in the U.K.

Tim Cook, Apple’s chief executive, said it was ‘nice to be back’ in an interview with the BBC.

iPhone 14

There are two sizes of iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus, available from the company.

An emergency call for help can now be sent via satellite from the new handsets. The phone will show the location of passing satellites and how to aim the device at them.

It can take 15 seconds to a few minutes to send a basic message.

‘CCS Insight chief analyst Ben Wood said adding satellite capability to the mix should not be downplayed.

It took Apple years to assemble the puzzle pieces, including a Globalstar satellite commercial agreement, and to build the infrastructure required to convey messages to the emergency services.

Paolo Pescatore, a tech analyst, said the innovation was good news for consumers in hard-to-reach areas.

A reliable and robust connection is still highly sought after among all users,” he said. “It is encouraging to see providers starting to get serious about using satellite.

Camera Resolution

The company claims its new 12-megapixel camera can capture 49% more low-light photos of fast-moving subjects.

Selfies were finally sharpened thanks to auto-focus on the front camera.

Apple says that iPhone users took over three trillion photos over the last year.

The iPhone is available for $799 (U.S.) and £849 (U.K.).

Screen

The most significant design alteration in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max is the top of the screen, which is now a pill-shaped cutout.

The Dynamic Island feature has replaced the black notch on many iPhones, which many users disliked – and it can now change shape based on what notifications are present.

Handsets can now remain on all the time.

The phone’s screen dims, and its refresh rate is lowered when it is not used.

The phone is available in black, silver, and gold, as well as in a deep purple color.

The iPhone 14 Pro is priced at $999 (U.S. dollars), £1099 (U.K. pounds).

AirPods

Finding an individual lost AirPod has become more accessible thanks to a new locating system built into each earbud. When a lost AirPod is out of the case, it plays a chime to alert the owner.

The Find My app will prompt the case itself to play a louder sound.

The new AirPods Pro is priced at $249 (U.S. dollars). They cost £249 (U.K. pounds) in the U.K.

It was more enjoyable to be here among an enthusiastic crowd of Apple fans for today’s launch than in recent years. However, nothing has been announced today that will revolutionize the tech industry.

If you frequently find yourself in dangerous situations, Apple’s new technology may be beneficial. The iPhone 14 can send messages via satellite when you are off the grid. The Ultra Watch is designed to work for several days without charging, which is ideal for long, remote journeys, according to Apple. A new crash detection system on new watches and phones will alert the police if they detect an impact. Apple is advertising its products as health and safety aids as it continues to do. Cook, of course, agrees, calling them “critical.”

These are pretty niche updates – features that users hope they never have to use. However, they are rather interesting.

The news follows Google’s announcement of a new Pixel Watch, challenging Apple and Musk for the satellite phone market.
