Starting today, Twitch and Amazon Music are partnering to deliver live streaming to Amazon’s Music app. Artists can now stream live performances or host Q&As from directly within the Amazon Music app. Fans are now able to listen to either an artist’s livestream or their on-demand music.

The Amazon Music app will let you know when an artist that you follow goes live. Amazon’s Music app is getting a new page that will let you browse currently ‘on-air’ livestreams. According to Amazon, its simple for an artist to link their Twitch channels using the service. According to reports, a thousand artists have already signed up.

This fits Amazon’s previous actions, as it was one of the companies that supported MusiCares’ COVID-19 Relief Fund. MusiCares’ initiative intended to help music professionals impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This new service will give those same musicians a way to connect with their audience despite canceled appearances and social distancing.

Twitch’s vice president, Tracy Chan, said, ‘Especially now, in a time when traditional venues are closed and tours have been cancelled, musicians are looking for new ways to continue creating, connect with fans, and build community. Twitch has become the place to co-create shared live experiences, and it’s now accessible in-app for Amazon Music’s 55 million customers.’
