Published on January 30, 2018

Xiaomi is reportedly planning on launching their flagship successor Mi Mix 2S smartphone at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) next month. The device will serve as the successor to 2016’s Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. A new report from China suggests that this smartphone will be the first of its kind to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 system-on-chip.

To recall, Xiaomi and Qualcomm announced their partnership back in December 2017. They made it official that Snapdragon 845 would appear in some smartphones manufactured by Xiaomi. At that time, it was assumed that the chipset would power Xiaomi’s Mi 7. However, before that could take place, it seems like Mi Mix S2 will steal the limelight.

“The upcoming Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S won’t just be the company’s first but also the world’s first smartphone with a Snapdragon 845 system-on-chip,” reports Gadgets 360. “The new model is also said to feature an upgraded camera over the one available on the Mi Mix 2,” the report further adds.

Citing information obtained through a Chinese source, the Gadgets 360 report further states that the Chinese technology giant will be using a new Sony IMX363 camera sensor in its smartphone to fuel the Dual Pixel technology that they plan on delivering to their customers.

In addition to the new camera setup, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S smartphone is scheduled to sport a design which will be pretty similar to Apple’s iPhone X smartphone. In other words, the front panel of the handset will pack an utterly bezel-less look. The device is also rumored to come with support for Artificial Intelligence (AI) functionality. On the pricing front, the Mi Mix 2S smartphone is expected to be launched at the starting price of CNY 4,000. It is speculated to hit stores in the country sometime in March – after an initial showcase at MWC 2018.
