I absolutely loved floating the first time I tried it and thought it would be awesome to float out in space with a Virtual Reality simulation wearing a VR headset while in the float tank being completely weightless and deprived of external stimulation. Lucky for me my friends Eugene, Topher & Adrian were able to build a 360° video experience to make my idea a reality.

Q) Why do you need Vaseline?
A) The water contains a massive amount of Epsom salt which irritates cuts. The Vaseline covers it and prevents any pain and is easy to wash off after. You always want to put it on your face if you just shaved the day of floating.
Q) Can you get yourself out of the float tank?
A) Yes, in the video we open it for eachother to end the experience but normally a light comes on, music plays and jets turn on to let you know your session is over and you can simply grab the handle and push up on the lid. It doesn’t lock.
Q) Can you do this naked?
A) Yes, it’s actually the preferred method to truly feel 100% weightless. I’ve done it with both and I can tell you nude is certainly the better way to go. But since we had a lady with us shooting video and helping we decided not to traumatize her.
Q) What if your phone gets wet?
A) Make sure you only use a cellphone that is waterproof with a IP67 minimum rating like an iPhone 7 or Samsung Galaxy Note. If you use a phone that is not water proof it’s going to fry about 1000x faster then if it was dumped in fresh water. Make sure you rinse off your phone with fresh water immediately after hanging out in the tank.
Q) Did you try other 360° videos?
A) No, we wanted to test this space experience first however we’ll be going back with improved hardware if this video is popular and testing different hardware to find the perfect combination.
