Potatoes have a long tradition as ammo. So called “Spud guns” are very popular, but those are usually powered by pressurized air or combustion. The Slingshot Channel uses a rubber powered Spud Gun – a veritable shoulder mounted bazooka – to test a popular myth.

Are frozen potatoes more devastating than thawed ones?

On a very sunny German day, the hispeed cam recorded some nice 1000 fps material of “potato vs. watermelon” tests.

The slingshot bazooka fires a 100 gramm potato at respectable 41,54 m/s – 86 Joules of energy. The momentum is over 4 Newton, more than a .45 ACP round.

A German film team recorded the entire “Making Of”, soon to be broadcast on TV.

A “The Slingshot Channel” production!
