A member of the US Navy and the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit in the Mutsu Bay off the coast of Japan during the 2JA 2016 Mine Countermeasure Exercise (2JA-16 MCMEX), July 18-30, 2016. 2JA Mine Countermeasures Exercise is an annual bilateral exercise between the US Navy and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force to strengthen interoperability and increase proficiencies in mine countermeasure operations.

2016年7月18日から30日まで陸奥湾(青森県)で行われた、海上自衛隊とアメリカ海軍の毎年恒例の日米合同訓練｢平成28年度機雷戦訓練及び掃海特別訓練｣(2JA-16 MCMEX)。
海上自衛隊から艦艇23隻(うらが型掃海母艦うらが(MST-463) ぶんご(MST-463)ほか)、航空機9機。
米海軍から艦艇1隻(アヴェンジャー級掃海艦パトリオット(MCM-7))、航空機3機。
