We heat up a small, sealed Pyrex test tube with a torch which has granulated sugar in it. The sugar must turn to a liquid (caramelize) before anything else happens. Once this happens, the liquid then builds up a tremendous pressure and temperature inside our small test tube.
These tests are very “small scale” but still are dangerous. You should not attempt this.
