Tikka T3 NLR: Mistress of Dangerous Things04:33

This is the best precision rifle I’ve shot to date: the customized Tikka T3 NLR. Disgust with some other bolt action platforms (mediocre accuracy, bad ejection, jams) and the boringness of the AR-15 style bolt guns, set me on a mission. I arrived at the Tikka. In the preferred 6.5 Creedmoor caliber, it’s a soft shooting, enjoyable, smooth, extremely accurate platform. POU is 1000 yard tactical rifle. Produced by Long Range Precision Arms Jake VanAllen and crew, the NLR configuration is a 24″ Bartlein barrel, trued and lapped Tikka action rifle. Testing was accomplished Nov 2014 to Feb 2015. There are lots of precision bolt action and even semi-auto rifles and some shoot good but 2nd Cool was a consideration in the NLR formulation: an engraved serial numbered “Mistress of Dangerous Things” aluminum plate is affixed the Multicam-ed KRG X-Ray chassis. Other features and build choices covered. Cost is reasonable for the custom quality and materials. See www.thegunvaultut.com/nlr-rifle for options, ordering info.

For questions call Jake VanAllen, the builder of this cool gun, 801-446-4442 Extension 3.

“Hey Nutn, what about the Ruger Precision Rifle?” It’s a utility shooter, all about 1st Cool. It used the cost effective and versatile but boring AR platform (for a bolt gun). Price and accuracy are reported to be excellent. But I would immediately get rid of the forend and perhaps rear stock, which adds a lot of cost. Like other Ruger products too, it could totally tank in sales after the typical over-hyped introduction the YT and gun media give all new players. Only time will tell. For instance the once-worshipped Ruger Gunsite Scout and SR556 both barely sell these days. We had to sell ours at big losses. So the wise man will not buy off on the platform until the product is truly proven. That takes time. Tell Ruger to contact me via PO Box and I might review one for ya’ll. You will have to campaign Ruger for me if you want a review because they’re scared that I could tank their sales and don’t like sending me loaners.
