FlexPlay was one of the more interesting takes on temporary disposable DVD rentals. Circuit City tried its own DIVX which multi-million dollar failure due to ridiculous DRM standards and the necessity for a phone line for verification. Unfortunately, due to the strong-arm Blockbuster corporation and other limitations such as shelf life and price, Flexplay became one of the larger product failures of the last decade.
