Technology is at its best not when it makes war deadlier, but when it reduces the amount of pain in the world. This, from a startup called Mycoworks, falls into the latter category.
Made of mushrooms, this faux leather eliminates the need to use animal skins. You probably won’t get that nice warm leather smell with it, and, as with faux fur, fashion assholes will elaborately justify using the real thing, anyway, but at least it’s an alternative for people who want to wear a cool and tough leather jacket without cruelty.
