Meet the extinct flying reptile named after Charles Darwin. The fossils of Darwinopterus reveal how “primitive” pterosaurs gradually evolved into more “advanced” forms.

Charles Darwin was born on 12 February 1809. He would go on to describe how all the different living things on Earth have evolved from a single common ancestor, by a process called “natural selection”.

This, coupled with his other discoveries, have made him one of the most famous scientists who ever lived.
