On the heels of its first two go ’rounds with TechPop this past summer, Digital Trends decided to open the floodgates for its third event, reserving an entire outdoor rooftop for all things tech including specific focuses on drones and virtual reality. Referred to as the Drone Show, TechPop Round 3 also looked outside Digital Trends’ workplace wheelhouse, employing the help of two food caterers (Portland-area establishments Koi Fusion and Slick’s Big Time BBQ), an innovative sound system purveyor named Case of Bass, as well as help from two professional drone companies, Hooperfly and Aerial Technology International.
Concerning TechPops of the future, Digital Trends is planning on hosting a family friendly event — meaning kids can come mess around with futuristic stuff — to help further increase its community’s exposure to tech. Additionally, the site is also interested in connecting with local tech enthusiast groups, makers, tech companies, and small businesses in terms of potential partnerships and collaborations.
