Solar Decathlon Europe is a sustainable housing design and building competition for students that is hosted in 2012 in Madrid.

Teams of students from all over the world are selected to build their sustainable housing designs and showcase them to visitors at Solar Decathlon Europe while competing for the top prize.

The challenge is to meet all the deliverables and tasks in the project development phase while striving to have the most energy efficient house.

Tackling the challenges of this sustainable housing competition allows students to learn about the technical aspects of sustainable design architecture but also to develop important skills for their careers, such as learning how to work in a multi-disciplinary team.

Students featured in the video have successfully used BIM modeling software from Autodesk like Revit Architecture, Ecotect, Vasari to meet those challenges in the planning, designing and building phase of the competition.
