Astronauts on the International Space Station just got their first official taste of food grown in space, giving new meaning to the term “eating local.”

Japanese astronaut Kimiya Yui, NASA’s Kjell Lindgren and Scott Kelly — a crewmember spending a full year aboard the ISS — harvested and ate a crop of red romaine lettuce grown on the orbiting science laboratory. And it apparently tasted pretty good.
