The Xperia Ear Open-Style Concept is essentially the same thing as the Xperia Ear, but instead of tight earbuds, it’s a behind-the-ear design with an open-to-the-world circular insert that fits right up on your ear canal. The speaker is physically located in the behind-the-ear bit, and its audio is piped into the earpiece, well, with a literal pipe: a hollow tube that delivers that audio to your ear. Sony calls them “spatial acoustic conductors,” but they’re tubes to you and me.
