Some days it seems as if every town in the United States that is big enough to have a gas station has plans to become the next “Silicon Valley”. Money and Resources are being poured into these places in the name of economic development. What is missed, and always seems to be missed, is that at some point you need geeks to build something.
From a political and business perspective this type of investment is a small scale disaster in the making, BUT from a professional perspective as a geek this could be a gold mine. There are many small cities making investments into building their tech industry when the fact of the matter is that no one with a good resume would want to move there.
