***Update Oct 2016: The recoil spring retention cup in the Sig MCX needs to be made of CNC’d aluminum. It seems to flex [under high rds counts] and allow the end of the recoil rod assembly to come out, releasing a spring. We experienced a complete recoil spring disassembly during extended shooting tests. We still like the MCX design as it offers the many advantages expressed in this GRV. However it needs some more refining as indicated here in TNP.***

Original Video Writeup:
Now this is how you make a competitor to the AR-15: the Sig MCX. We have shot a lot of supposed “cutting edge game changers” here in TNP and usually we walk away underwhelmed. Most often they’re too heavy, recoil weirdly, have mediocre accuracy, are too proprietary, they don’t cycle steel ammo, they have bad ergos, and other quirks. Oh yeah, they’re expensive too. Most guys don’t mind paying the money if they’re getting the gun. We want something tough, accurate, and light. With the Sig MCX you WILL get that gun. Where the ACR and others have failed, the MCX gets pretty much everything right. In lots of shooting, even with AR-15 lowers, you will see the MCX excel in every aspect of our testing. Its design elements are intelligent, lightweight, and durable. As you will see in the details review here, the MCX is a true lightweight multi-caliber innovation. While designed for suppressed 300 Blackout use, you’ll see it owns things in 5.56mm just fine. This is the best new tactical carbine design I’ve seen yet…buy one.
