Ever wonder how far you can shoot a wax slug? These crude slugs will travel at least 400 yards, but can you hit anything with them?
We used low powder Federal target loads, with a velocity of about 1200 fps. The results were actually pretty revealing, and surprising. This should give non-shooters an idea how far slugs actually travel. They won’t go 2½ miles and hit the cars in the background, or even 1000 yards to the bulldozer. It’s fun to see the comments from people who think a shotgun CAN shoot that far though!
