*Please read this*! When I joined the USMC Aviation field in 1967, I had to learn to be a Marine Rifleman first. Here, I show you some 40 year old images (1969-1970) from Vietnam and Japan, including Hiroshima and Japan’s Expo ’70 World’s Fair. We rode motorcycles to it while stationed there in 1969-1970. The music is from the 3 piece band we formed in the sandbag bunkers of Vietnam. We wound up playing live at the “Slipway Club” the night before we left Japan to go home to the USA. I present some of it here that I recorded on my Akai reel to reel. The reel to reel you see in this video’s introduction is a Teac that I have now.

The tape has degraded some and it was recorded live in a hollow building, but at least you can get an idea of what a bunch of Marines sound like after being though what we had just endured.

I don’t profess to be a great guitarist, as I have seen some amazing guitar videos of yours.

But, we were just a few guys having fun being happy to still be alive.

The video shows you how it was 40 years ago before computers, cell phones, Ipods, Digital Cameras, DVDs, CDs, etc. Not even had Atari been invented yet!

I always hoped that we did not do that “war” for nothing! If nothing else, learn from it and let’s not do that again!

Rest easy and Semper Fi to all the military folks who were and still are, willing to put it all on the line so we can live our lives as we are used to..

Best regards,
Dave Herbert
USMC Ret.
