Update Oct 5: Replacement Galaxy Note 7 smoking and popping on airline… WTH:

Update Sept 12! I have my Note 7 through T-Mobile. You can return your phone for a full refund or get a replacement of your Note 7. I called a few T-mobile stores for a replacement but none of them had an S7 edge or Note 5. So I called T-moibile (611). They have all Galaxy phones in stock. I chose the Note 5 and they will over night it to me so i get it tomorrow. I get to keep the Note 7 and won’t have to return it until they contact me saying the new Notes 7s without the charging issue is in stock.

Update: The company originally said it would take about two weeks to prepare the recall, but later announced Note 7 users in the U.S. can exchange their device for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge, starting next week. It will also refund the cost of Note 7-specific accessories.
Samsung is giving Note 7 users a $25 gift card or bill credit for the inconvenience.

It’s official now just announced! They have halted sales and will replace ALL 2.5 million Samsung Galaxy Note 7’s. We will hear more about how to get replacement Note 7s in about 2 weeks.

Samsung said that they had been informed of 35 fire/ exploding cases worldwide while the Note 7 was charging. Something to to with the battery.

Samsung states that just 24 units in every million is at risk of fire. That is one in every 42,000 units.
