Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus: Is It Worth It?

Published on August 31, 2018

Released alongside the Samsung Galaxy S9, the S9+ is a new, not so new, in addition to their flagship S series. While it is simply an amazing phone the real question is whether it’s worth buying especially if you bought a Galaxy S8 not too long ago. In this review, you will find detailed specifications and the pros and cons of the phone.

Another S8?

While it is true that the S series took the Android market by storm and paved the way for other companies to follow. However, due to the intense competition of the Smartphone industry, many believe that not a lot of innovation comes with every new entry, and Galaxy S9 has fallen into this pit of controversy.

In terms of hardware, not a lot has changed physically with the appearance of the phone making it very similar to the S8. The most significant and welcome change to the S9 is the placement of the fingerprint scanner. It is now beneath the camera lenses and is much more accurate.

What Counts Is On The Inside

With no a lot of innovative hardware, the S9+ is still the best Samsung phone to date. The S9+ comes equipped with a Snapdragon 845 and 6 GB of RAM. The phone is incr3edibly smooth and will stay that way for a long time. The phone has a 3500 mAh battery to support the entire day and a super bright AMOLED display with gorilla glass. The camera has seen a slight improvement while the speakers are now front facing rather than beneath the phone.

Verdict

Since this is a flagship phone Samsung held nothing back in making this the best “Samsung” phone. Emphasis on the Samsung as the phone doesn’t bring anything new to people not interested in Samsung phones. This means if you didn’t like them in the past chances are you won’t like them now. In conclusion, although being new the Samsung Galaxy S9+ gives a smartphone experience unmatched by any other in the market, but if you have an s8/s8+ then it’s not worth the upgrade yet.
