Chassis bolt action rifles have been around a long time. But Ruger’s Precision Rifle created a surprising excitement in the type. Many here in TNP have asked for a review. With multiple outings complete, plenty of rounds fired the data is in on this .308 chambered RPR: it’s is a good rifle and worthy of your consideration. You must get past its 10 lbs 10 oz naked weight however and a short POU discussion will remind you how limiting that can be. But in position the weight is helpful and the Ruger Precision Rifle shoots fast, smooth, and sure. It is a fun outing shooting this Ruger with high level ergonomics and superb trigger. Features are covered, some of which are pulled from competitive chassis rifles like the Remington MCR. Accuracy is the key selling point for a rifle of this type and some honest data is proffered here. It was somewhat disappointing. Also consider some excellent alternatives offered by Savage, Weatherby, Begara, Mossberg, Howa and others; many of their chassis rifles will be lighter, more affordable, and more accurate.
