Will it make the press more effective when we bolt it down? Many people said so. Well, in theory the upwards vector from the press and the downwards vector from the rod will add up – but some energy will be lost due to fighting the gravity.
We did the test in order to find out!
Also, we brought the contraption to its limits by – guess what – doubling up the rubber. See for yourself what 400 kg (880 lb) of rubber force, applied to a 7,5 kg (16,5 lb) steel rod, do to various objects!
