Meet Forpheus, the ping pong-playing robot.
Forpheus can rally with any ping pong player, including an Olympic medalist. But the robot isn’t really designed to take over the ping pong world. Instead, it’s a “table tennis tutor,” the first of its kind, according to the Guinness Book Of World Records.
Forpheus uses artificial intelligence to predict ball location and players’ skill level, then giving them motivation and tips on how to improve their play. The robot’s newest features include the ability to serve and to predict various shots, like a smash.
Looks like Forrest Gump may have met his match.
