Hey Nerdgasm fans, I pre-ordered the open source Android gaming console called OUYA back when it was a Kickstarter project and completely forgot about it. Today when I got home from work a package was sitting on the door step and I ripped it open to find this little gem sitting inside. I love it when I completely forget about shit and it just shows up without me expecting it. So obviously that meant it was time to throw all my plans away for the evening and do an in-depth unboxing and review of this new console. I’m always excited to get a new game console since I already have XBOX 360, PS3, Wii, and WiiU consoles and now I have the OUYA to add to the collection. This console certainly feels like it’s in a BETA state at this point (atleast the software) and the market place is very small without many games (yet) but I can already tell there is a lot of potential here.

The controller is a lot like an XBOX 360 controller so you will be right at home but it doesn’t feel as comfortable in the hands. Plus installing the batteries in the controller is confusing the first time you try to figure it out since they don’t include any instructions in the box and the controller has no markings indicating where the batteries would go but the batteries are included in the box.

I play a game called DubWars in this video to demo the unit and it’s pretty fun and unique, It’s like geometry wars with a music twist! If you do get this console I recommend you give that game a try first!

Notes:
1) I know about the minor audio sync issue near the end of the video, there is an issue with the encoder I’m trying to resolve.
2) I was unable to capture full screen 1080p video with my Avermedia Live Gamer HD since the OUYA doesn’t seem to put out a signal that is compatible with it (Investigating
