I already have three 46″ HDTV displays as my primary monitors but when I’m in game with nVidia surround enabled I don’t have another display that can keep track of my live stream, email, telemetry, networking, CPU, memory, etc. So for that reason I decided to get a higher resolution smaller screen (this one) and place it above my three 46″ screens on my vaulted ceiling so I can just look up and and glance to get what I need.

This monitor was a great choice and I took a little bit of a risk but I’m happy with the end result. The total cost for the display was around $400 and that is a lot cheaper then buying a higher end brand screen with the same specs. Sure it has one dead pixel on it but you can’t even notice unless the screen is a very bright color so I can live with it. Also the slight light bleeding issue isn’t a problem for me either but if you want to spend double or even triple the money you can get a better display but this is absolutely amazing for the money.

The heart of this monitor is the brilliant display panel made by LG. This panel features a maximum brightness level of 440cd/m², a tight 2560×1440 maximum resolution, and up to 80,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. It features a 178° viewing angle in both the horizontal and vertical planes. The monitor is primarily intended for use with the Dual Link DVI-D interface, but a VGA interface is included as a backup.

The display is housed in an ultra-thin bezel with a glossy glass, anti-glare laminate that extends to the very edge of the bezel, for a clean, modern appearance. Responding to criticisms monitor’s casing, we’ve upgrade it to an all metal case. The fixed plastic stand was replaced with a heavy-duty metal reinforced stand, which can be detached by removing a single screw. The monitor also sports a 100×100 VESA mounting pattern, making it compatible with most wall and desk mounts.

We also improved the interface to the monitor in two ways. First, we moved the connectors from the bottom of the panel, which offered too little room for maneuver, to the side, which makes it much easier to see and access the connections. We also improved the menu control buttons by making them larger, with greater spacing, and made the power button a different shape so that it is easy to distinguish by feel alone.

As with the previous model, we are standing behind this monitor with a 5-dead-pixel warranty for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase. If you can count five dead pixels, we’ll send you a new monitor.
