Recently, Philips expanded its Hue line with an integrated Bloom lamp and LightStrips. Today, we’re taking a closer look at the new LightStrips. If you’d like to check out my review of the Bloom lamp click here. Check out the video above for my review and demo of these awesome Hue-enabled accent lights.

The LightStrips connect to your existing Hue bridge. Because of this, you’re able to take advantage of the same features and functionality offered by Hue. Overall, I’m a big fan of Hue, but I wish Philips offered them in shorter increments. Currently, you can purchase a 6.56 foot strip of these lights for $89.95. As commenter gtaz19 on my YouTube video noted:

You can use the part you cut off or even add length if you want. you should state that in your video. you can either solder it back on with wire extending the area, or you can use RGB LED strip clips to do it w/o solder. You can then make jumps between lit areas or use a LED strip amp to add length for as long as you’d like!

Though in my opinion, I don’t recommend modifying the product, but you do have this option if you’re willing to do the research. Check out my review above, and let me know what you think in the comments below.
